Meet the Trustees

Michael Parsons

Chair and Trustee Champion for equality and access

Michael is our Chair, elected in September 2020. He has over 25 years experience as an Access Consultant, formerly with the RNIB. Since 2013 Michael has been a freelance access trainer and also the Director of his company, Inclusive Access and Training Services. He is a frequent visitor to Sutton Vision events alongside his guide-dog. Michael is our Trustee Champion on equality, inclusion and access and represents the organisation in national and local access consultations. Michael loves his sport and supports his favourite football team avidly. He has also travelled widely while supporting, developing and playing blind cricket – including Barbados!

Louisa Syrett

Vice Chair and Trustee Champion for fundraising and operations

Over the last twenty years, Louisa has held senior fundraising, partnership, and advocacy positions across a number of different voluntary sector organisations including Save the Children and the British Council. She is passionate about building a strong and effective international development sector having spent time working in Palestine, Malawi and Nepal. Louisa is the Trustee champion for fundraising and operations and is committed to making Sutton Vision sustainable long into the future. Louisa was elected Vice Chair for Sutton Vision in September 2020.

Roy Patel

Trustee Champion for new media technology

Roy has worked at some of the most pioneering information and market research companies like Extel, MetrixLab and Lightspeed in sales leadership roles over a 25-year career. Currently, he has his own consultancy business working with several innovative global companies in market research and advertising intelligence. Roy is our Trustee Champion for new media technology.

Anthony Richman

Treasurer and Company Secretary

Anthony is an experienced CFO who has operated internationally. He has extensive management experience, with more than 20 years at the board level and he is a certified ACMA management accountant. Based in London he runs his own business, providing Finance Director services to small and medium sized companies across the globe. Anthony is our Trustee champion for operations and finance. Anthony lived in Hong Kong for 5 years to 2016 and served on the board of directors at the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, a children’s based charity operating in Vietnam and Mongolia. He visited the frontline and worked with them on fundraising and impact reporting. He is very personable – ask him about his dog or the Welsh rugby team.

Graham Randles

Trustee Champion for impact

Graham has extensive experience in the areas of outcomes measurement, impact management, social return on investment and wellbeing at work. He is currently the Managing Director of a social enterprise that works to improve outcomes for providers and users of health, social care and homelessness services. Graham previously led the team at the New Economics Foundation that delivered evaluation and impact assessments for clients including Guide Dogs, The Prince’s Trust and The Crown Estate.

Sue Christie

Trustee Champion for recreation and activities

Sue is our Trustee champion for recreation and activities and a member of the independent Visual Impairment Leisure Group. Sue set up the Audio Book Club in partnership with the local Library Service and she helps coordinate the regular coffee mornings held in Sutton.

Juliet Milgate

Policy Trustee Champion

Juliet is our newest trustee, joining Sutton Vision in October 2022. She is the Director of Policy and Global Advocacy at Sightsavers, an international development organisation based in Haywards Heath. Juliet joined the Diplomatic Service in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, living and working in Croatia, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria. From the FCO, she moved to work for The Rt Hon Lord Ashley of Stoke, C.H. Juliet then studied International Development part time at the Open University and eventually found Sightsavers in 2012. Juliet currently lives in Kingswood and prior to that lived in Tooting and Raynes Park, so she knows the Sutton area very well.
